Amendments to Louisianas Database Security Breach Notification Law

Should there be a data security breach, businesses will have 60 days to make proper notification to the Louisiana Attorney General.

In the wake of the European Union&rsquos new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards signed into effect amendments to Louisiana&rsquos Database Security Breach Notification Law. New amendments went into effect on August 1st, 2018.

 

Louisiana businesses will now be required to implement and maintain &ldquoreasonable security procedures and practices appropriate to the nature of the information&rdquo to protect the personal information from breaches, destruction, use, modification, or disclosure.&rdquo

 

Should there be a data security breach, businesses will have 60 days to make proper notification to the Louisiana Attorney General.
